The opera by definition baroque orchestra
The baroque orchestra for Tamerlano breaks new ground for opera by definition. The players are all specialists in historical performance, and appear regularly with leading period instrument orchestras including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the English Baroque Soloists and The Academy of Ancient Music. Featured instruments are a double manual harpsichord and a theorbo.

Press comments:
‘The intensity of the internal and external conflicts (of the characters) were beautifully detailed and moving... The baroque orchestra played exquisitely, honing the textures and idiosyncrasies of period instruments in a tight ensemble.’
Opera Now Magazine
‘there is no doubt that the stalls audience was experiencing the opera as Handel would have imagined… and the projection of text over a small band was unproblematic (I could hear every word of Tamerlano).’
Rupert Christiansen on his blog; Daily Telegraph
