opera by definition education aims to introduce young people aged between 6 and 11 to opera with a new adaptation of Mozart's The Magic Flute especially commissioned for an audience of schools, originally produced by Glyndebourne Education.

Glyndebourne Education's highly successful 2009 production for schools will be staged at The Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre Tunbridge Wells on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th October 2010 at 10.30am and 2pm.

The staging of this production will give the children an opportunity to interact with the story and to experience the exhilaration of watching a live performance with Glyndebourne Opera singers accompanied by flute and piano.

Part pantomime and part fairy tale, The Magic Flute conjures a cast of plucky heroes searching for truth and the enlightenment of the new day. Scenery, costumes, props and an integral lighting design support their epic journey.

Using only Mozart’s music, arranged by Dominic Harlan, with a new and intimate approach to the story by Brendan Murray, the performers will retell this bewitching tale with a little help from the audience.

• Suitable for ages 6-11
• The performance lasts for approximately 1 hour with no interval
• Booking is open to all primary school groups
• Free tickets for children on free school meals and with special needs
• Please book early to avoid disappointment
